Description

Large sample from a pegmatite with tabular prismatic white Petalie crystals. Petalite (LiAlSi4O10) can be colourless, grey, yellow, pink to white. Lustre is vitreous and pearly on the cleavage and streak is colourless. Hardness is 6 to 6 1/2 and cleavage is perfect in one direction Petalite usually occurs as tabular prismatic crystals or columnar masses.
