Description

Original Description: *Incomplete. Selenite (CaSO4 x 2H2O) is the colourless variety of Gypsum. Lustre is vitreous and pearly on the cleavage. Streak is white and hardness is 1 1/2 to 2. Cleavage is perfect in one direction and distinct in two other directions. Gypsum can be untwinned crystals that show rhombic forms that may be twinned arrowhead shape with beveled edges. Gypsum can also be granular, massive, fibrous (Satin Spar) or earthy.
