Description

Original Description: *Incomplete. Vanadinite (Pb5(VO4)3Cl) can be ruby-red, orange, brown, yellow or multicoloured. Lustre is greasy, adamantine or resinous. Streak is white or pale yellow and hardness is 3. Vanadinite usually occurs as small prismatic crystals that can sometimes be hollow. Vanadinite can also be fibrous, incrusting, compact or globular. Barite (BaSO4) can be white, grey, colourless, or shades of yellow, brown, red or blue. Lustre is vitreous or pearly and streak is white. Hardness is 3 to 3 1/2. Cleavage is perfect tin one direction, good in a second direction and distinct in a third direction. Barite usually occurs as thin or thick tabular crystals but can also be prismatic, divergent groups, compact, lamellar, fibrous or granular.
