Agate (SiO2) is the bright green with red spots variety of Chalcedony. Lustre is waxy, vitreous or dull and streak is white. Hardness is 7. Chalcedony is the microcrystalline variety of Quartz and usually occurs as crusts that show botryoidal or mammillary forms but can also be compact or banded.
