Description
Quartz (var. Amethyst) – [SiO₂]
Aggregate of translucent, pale to medium violet amethyst crystals developed on a layer of colourless to milky quartz over a dark grey matrix. The amethyst occurs as intergrown, subhedral to euhedral crystals with well-developed rhombohedral terminations and vitreous lustre.
Colour intensity varies across the specimen, from pale lavender to deeper purple, with some crystals showing uneven colour zoning. The specimen displays a typical drusy to crystalline quartz aggregate formed by open-space crystal growth.
