Description
Sample of euhedral tabular Titanite that is black in colour.
Titanite (CaTiSiO5) can be brown, black, yellow, grey or green in colour. Lustre is vitreous, resinous or adamantine and streak is white. Hardness is 5 to 5 1/2 and cleavage is distinct in two directions that is parallel to the crystal faces. Parting is frequently distinct. Titanite usually occurs as tabular crystals that may be twinned but can also be lamellar or compact.
