Description
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Brachiopoda
Class: Rhynchonellata
Order: Rhynchonellida
Family: Hebetoechiidae
Genus: Sphaerirhynchia (Cooper and Muir-Wood, 1951) and Estonirhynchia (Schmidt, 1954)
8 samples; Five body fossils and three samples with various pedicle and brachial valves embedded on the surface of the sediments. The body fossils appear to all be Sphaerirhynchia and the three samples of sediments appear to be a mixture of Sphaerirhynchia and Estonirhynchia. Sphaerirhynchia specimens have medium, defined ribs (~0.1 cm). Faint sulcus, brachial valves are too weathered to distinguish any characteristics. Small beak. Rounded anterior margin and triangular/rounded posterior margin.
Estonirhynchia specimens have broader ribs ( ~0.11 cm) and faint sulcus. Rounded anterior margin and rounded/triangular posterior margin.
*The three samples of sediments have been measured and the largest body fossil was measured.
