Description
Sample of euhedral prismatic Quartz crystal within Dolostone. Vitreous lustre and crystal is terminated on both ends with double rhombohedrons. Quartz crystal size: 1.9 cm x 1.3 cm x 1.3 cm.
Quartz (SiO2) can come in a variety of different colours from white to purple. Lustre is vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7. Quartz usually occurs as long or prismatic crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons and can be referred to Hekimer Diamond if both ends are terminated. Crosswise striations. Quartz can also be granular, massive or disseminated.
Host rock is the Little Falls Dolostone.
