Description

Sample of very small prismatic euhedral Dioptase crystals with a vitreous lustre. Average Dioptase crystal size: 0.1 cm x 0.1 cm x 0.1 cm. Dioptase (CuSiO2(OH)2) is an emerald-green mineral with a vitreous lustre that is slightly greasy on fracture. Streak is pale greenish-blue and hardness is 5. Cleavage is perfect in three directions. Dioptase usually occurs as short prismatic crystals capped by rhombohedrons but can also be granular or massive.
