Description
Sample of two tabular euhedral Molybdenite crystals on white/colourless granular Quartz. Largest Molybdenite crystal size: 1.9 cm x 2.2 cm x 0.1 cm.
Molybdenite (MoS2) is a bluish lead-grey mineral that has a metallic lustre. Streak is greyish black or greenish on white unglazed porcelain. Hardness is 1 to 1 1/2 and cleavage is perfect in one direction. Molybdenite usually occurs as well-formed tabular crystals that are often deformed but can also be scales, foliated masses or fine granular (rare).
