Description

Sample of white/yellow globular hemispheres of Wavellite. Pearly lustre. Wavellite(Al3(PO4)2(OH)3 x 5H2O) can be green, yellow, white, grey or brown in colour. Lustre is vitreous or pearly and streak is white. Hardness is 3 1/2 to 4 and cleavage is perfect in one direction and good in two other directions. Wavellite can be stout to long prismatic crystals that are striated (rare) but can also be radial fibrous, globular hemispheres with botryiodal crusts and stalactitic.
