Description
Sample of cut and polished grass-green Malachite.
Malachite (Cu2CO3(OH)2) can be emerald-green, grass-green or dark green with an adamantine, silky or dull lustre. Streak is light green and hardness is 3 1/2 to 4. Cleavage is perfect in one direction. Malachite usually occurs as radial, fibrous, botryoidal, stalactitic, incrusting or earthy forms but can (rare) be long or short prismatic crystals.
