Description

Four sample of green/yellow subhedral bipyramid/tabular Sulphur. Lustre is adamantine. Sulfur (S) can be yellow, greenish, reddish yellow or brown in colour. Lustre can be greasy, resinous or adamantine and streak is white. Hardness is 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 and cleavage is poor in two directions. Sulphur usually occurs as bipyramids or tabular crystals but can also be granular, fibrous, compact, earthy, reniform, stalactitic or incrusting. The sample comes from the El Desierto Mine that was formed by solfataras that were active 1.7 to 1.6 million years ago. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/00357520109603246
