Description
Sample of several euhedral octahedron Galena crystals with a metallic lustre. Largest crystal size: 2.2 cm x 1.6 cm x 1.4 cm.
Galena (PbS) is a dark lead-grey mineral with a metallic lustre. Streak is dark grey-lead and hardness is 2 1/2. Cleavage is perfect in three directions at 90 degrees and specific gravity is 7.4 to 7.6. Galena usually occurs as cubic crystals but can also be octahedrons, dodecahedrons, massive, coarse or fine-grained or even fibrous.
