Description

Two samples of Natrolite. One white sample and one yellowish-reddish in colour. Both are acicular, almost "Fan-like" to radial euhedral crystals. The white sample has a more vitreous lustre while the reddish-yellow sample has a more silky lustre. Natrolite (Na2Al2Si3O10 x 2H2O) can be white, colourless, greyish, yellowish or reddish in colour with a vitreous or silky lustre. Streak is colourless and hardness is 5 to 5 1/2. Cleavage is perfect in one direction. Natrolite usually occurs as slender to acicular crystals but can also be radial, granular or compact in form.
