Description
Sample of sky-blue bipyramidal euhedral Lazuilte crystals embedded on the surface of the substrate. Vitreous lustre. Average crystal size: 0.7 cm x 0.6 cm x 0.5 cm.
Lazulite ((Mg, Fe)Al2(PO4)2(OH)2) can be a deep-blue, sky-blue or pale greenish blue in colour with a vitreous or dull lustre. Streak is white and hardness is 5 1/2 to 6. Cleavage is distinct in one direction. Lazulite usually occurs as bipyramidal to tabular crystals but can also be granular or compact in form.
