Description
Sample of compact/granular Goethite that is iridescent.
Goethite (HFeO2) can be yellow, yellow-brown, dark brown, black or multicoloured due to tarnish. Lustre is submetallic, adamantine or dull and streak is yellow to yellowish brown. Hardness is 5 to 5 1/2. Goethite usually occurs as small black, shiny prismatic crystals or can be acicular, flattened plates, compact, granular, foliated or earthy in form.
