Description
Two samples of colourless to reddish tabular euhedral Celestite. Vitreous and pearly lustre.
Celestite (SrSO4) can be white, bluish, reddish or colourless with a pearly or vitreous lustre. Streak is white and hardness is 3 to 3 1/2. Cleavage is perfect in one direction, good in a second direction and distinct in the third direction. Celestite tends to occur as thin or thick tabular crystals but can also be fibrous, cleavage masses, nodular, granular or lamellar.
