Description

Sample of several "Wheat Sheaves" of yellowish Stilbite with a vitreous lustre. Largest aggregate is: 6.1 cm x 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm. Stilbite (NaCa2Al5Si13O36 x 16H2O) can be white, greyish, yellowish, red to brown in colour with a vitreous lustre that is pearly on the cleavage. Streak is colourless and hardness is 3 1/2 to 4. Cleavage is perfect in one direction. Stilbite tends to occur as bladed aggregates that appears as "wheat sheaves" but can also be globular or radial.
