Description

Two samples of colourless fan-shaped aggregates of Hemimorphite. Euhedral crystals. One sample has a vitreous lustre the other sample has a dull lustre. Average fan aggregate size: 1.8 cm x 1.2 cm 1.5 cm. Hemimorphite (Zn4Si2O7(OH)2 x H2O) can be white, colourless, yellowish, bluish or brownish in colour with a vitreous, adamantine or dull lustre. Streak is colourless and hardness is 4 1/2 to 5. Hemimorphite usually occurs as thin tabular or in fan-shaped aggregates but can also be mammillary, stalactitic or granular in form.
