UNB-2017-0172Minerals » Tectosilicates

Description

Numerous, small colourless prismatic Quartz crystals that are euhedral and are terminated by double rhombohedrons. Vitreous lustre. Average crystal size: 1.0 cm x 0.2 cm x 0.2 cm. Quartz (SiO2) can come in a variety of colours from white to purple. Lustre is vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7. Quartz usually occurs as long or short prismatic crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons and have striations crosswise. Quartz can also be granular, massive or disseminated.
