Description

Sample is of brass-yellow cubic almost fibrous subhedral crystals of Pyrite with visible striations on the crystal faces. Pyrite (FeS2) can be pale yellow or brass-yellow and is often tarnished with brown or black film. Lustre is usually metallic but can be iridescent and streak is greenish-black. Hardness is 6 to 6 1/2. Pyrite usually occurs as cubes and pyritohedrons that have parallel striations along the crystal faces. Pyrite can also occurs as octahedrons, nodules, massive forms, fine to coarse-grained and stalactitic. Nanisivick Mine; Lead-Zinc Mine, with the main commodities being Lead, Zinc and Silver.
