Description
Rose-coloured euhedral crystals (1.0 cm in diameter) within a light-cream fine grained Muscovite-Schist.
Pyrope is part of the Garnet group which are different aluminum silicates and calcium silicates. Pyrope (Mg3Al2Si3O12) is usually a deep red to reddish black in colour but can be purple, rose or pale purplish red. Lustre is vitreous and streak is colourless. Hardness is 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 and crystals are usually dodecahedrons and trapezohedrons but can be granular, lamellar, compact or disseminated.
