Description

Six samples of compact Zoisite with only two of the samples unpolished. Greenish and pink (Thulite) samples. *One sample is missing. Zoisite (Ca2Al3Si3O12(OH)) can be grey, yellowish brown, greenish, pink (Thulite) or blue (Tanzanite). Lustre is vitreous and pearly on the cleavage. Streak is white and hardness is 6 to 6 1/2. Cleavage is good lengthwise. Zoisite tends to occur as prismatic crystals but can also be columnar, bladed, fibrous or compact.
