Description
Five samples of "Desert Rose" Barite. Reddish to brown, thin lamellar crystals with a vitreous lustre. *Two samples are missing.
Barite (BaSO4) can be white, grey, colourless or different shales of yellow, red, blue or brown. Lustre is vitreous or pearly and streak is white. Hardness is 3 to 3 1/2. Barite usually occurs as long or short tabular crystals but can also be prismatic, compact, lamellar, fibrous or granular.
