Description

Sample of deep violet octahedron euhedral Fluorite crystals embedded on massive white/colourless Quartz with a greasy lustre. Fluorite (CaF₂) be violet, blue, green, yellow, brown, bluish black, pink , rose-red, colourless or white. Lustre is vitreous and streak is white. Hardness is 4 and cleavage is perfect in four directions, forming an octahedron. Fluorite usually occurs as cubic or penetration twins but can be octahedral, dodecahedral, cleavage masses, granular or columnar. Quartz (SiO2) can come in a variety of colours from white to purple. Lustre is vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7. Quartz usually occurs as long or short prismatic crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons and has crosswise striations. Quartz can also be granular, massive or disseminated.
