Description

White to colourless subhedral Stilbite crystals that are bladed aggregates and radial in form with a vitreous lustre. Entwined with Stilbite is bluish-green euhedral spherulitic rosettes of Cavansite with a vitreous lustre. Cavansite (Ca(VO)Si4O10 x 4H2O) is a brilliant blue colour mineral that can also bluish green. Lustre is vitreous or pearly and streak is bluish-white. Hardness is 3 to 4 and cleavage is good in one direction. Cavansite usually occurs as radiating acicular prismatic crystals and is commonly spherulitic rosettes. Stilbite (NaCa2Al5Si13O36 x 16H2O) can be white, greyish, yellowish, red or brown in colour. Lustre is vitreous and pearly on the cleavage. Streak is colourless and hardness is 3 1/2 to 4. Cleavage is perfect in one direction. Stilbite usually occurs as bladed aggregates that appear as "wheat sheaves" but can also be radial, globular or tabular crystals (rare).
