Description
Geode with short, thin subhedral prismatic colourless to white Quartz crystals with a vitreous lustre that is surround by red-green banded Agate that has a dull lustre.
Quartz (SiO2) can come in a variety of colours from white to purple. Lustre can be vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7. Quartz usually occurs as long or short prismatic crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons and have striations crosswise. Quartz can also occurs as granular, disseminated or massive.
Agate (SiO2) is a variety of Quartz (Chalcedony) and is known for its bright green colour with red spots. Lustre can be waxy, vitreous or dull and streak is white. Hardness is 7 and usually occurs as crusts that shows botryoidal or mammillary forms but can also be compact and banded.
