Description

Sample of grass-green botryoidal Malachite that is botryoidal with a silky to dull lustre. Malachite (Cu2CO3(OH)2) can be emerald-green, grass-green or dark green. Lustre can be adamantine, silky or dull and the streak is light green. Hardness is 3 1/2 to 4 and the cleavage is perfect in one direction crosswise. Crystals of Malachite are rare but can be short or long prismatic. Malachite can be radial, fibrous, botryoidal, stalactitic, incrusting or earthy.
