Description

Microcrystalline Chrysocolla with botryoidal emerald-green Malachite that has a silky lustre. Malachite (Cu2CO3(OH)2) can be emerald-green, grass-green or dark green in colour with an adamantine, silky or dull lustre. Streak is light green and hardness of 3 1/2 to 4. Cleavage is perfect in one direction crosswise. Malachite is commonly found as radial, fibrous, botryoidal, stalactitic, incrusting or earthy. Malachite can be short or long prismatic crystals (rare). Chrysocolla (Cu2H2Si2O5(OH)4) can be green, bluish green, blue or brown and black if there are impurities. Lustre can be vitreous, greasy or dull and streak is white, pale blue or green. Hardness is 2 to 4. Chrysocolla can be microcrystalline, compact, reniform or botryoidal.
