Description
Large dark green to black sample of vitreous chlorite that is tabular/foliated in appearance.
Chlorite ((Mg,Fe)6(AlSi3)O10(OH)8) can be light to dark green or black in colour. Lustre varies from pearly, vitreous or dull and streak is colourless. Hardness is 2 to 2 1/2 and cleavage is perfect in one direction. Chlorite is usually found as tabular forms that are six-sided pseudohexagonal crystals but can also be foliated, scaly, granular or compact.
