Sample of lilac compact/fibrous Hexagonite with a vitreous lustre.
Hexagonite (Ca2(Mg,Fe)5Si8O22(OH)2) is the name for pink or lilac Tremolite. Lustre can vitreous or silky and streak is colourless. Hardness is 5 to 6 and cleavage is perfect in two directions forming a diamond shape. Hexagonite is usually found as fibrous, radiating aggregates, bladed but can also be compact.
