Description

Sample of small, numerous subhedral cubic brass-yellow Pyrite. No visible striations. Average crystal size: 0.1 cm x 0.1 cm x 0.1 cm. Pyrite (FeS2) can be pale yellow to brass-yellow that can be tarnished with black or brown film or can be iridescent. Lustre is metallic and streak is greenish black. Hardness is 6 to 6 1/2. Pyrite is usually found in cubic forms but can also be octahedrons, nodules, massive, fine to coarse granular or fibrous. Parallel striations are seen along the faces of the crystal.
