Description

Sample of Celestite with slight bluish tint that has a vitreous lustre. Crystals are cleavage masses and thick subhedral tabular crystals. Celestite (SrSO4) can be white, bluish, reddish or colourless and has a vitreous or pearly lustre. Streak is white and hardness is 3 to 3 1/2. Cleavage is perfect in one direction, good in a second direction and distinct in the third. Celestite can be thin or thick tabular crystals but also fibrous, cleavage masses, nodular rarely granular or lamellar.
