Description
Sample of short prismatic and wedge shaped euhedral Datolite crystals that are white with some yellowish tint and has a vitreous lustre. Largest crystal size: 0.3 cm x 0.4 cm x 0.6 cm.
Datolite (CaBSiO4(OH)) can be greenish, yellowish, reddish, greyish, white or colourless and has either a vitreous, dull or greasy lustre. Streak is colourless and hardness is 5 to 5 1/2. Datolite is usually found as short prismatic to blunt wedge-shaped crystals but can also be botryoidal or fine-grained porcelain-like masses.
