Description

Sample of rose-red cleavage mass of Rhodochrosite with a vitreous lustre. Rhodochrosite (MnCO3) can be pink, rose-red, dark red or brown in colour that can darken in colour overtime from exposure. Lustre can be vitreous or pearly and streak is white. Hardness is 3 1/2 to 4 and cleavage is perfect in three directions and forms a rhombohedron. Rhodochrosite is often found as cleavage masses, granular, compact, botryoidal or incrusting.
