Quartz (SiO2) can come in various colours from purple to white and even colourless. Lustre is vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7. Quartz usually occurs as prismatic crystals that a striated crosswise and are usually terminated by double rhombohedrons. Quartz can also be granular, disseminated or massive.
