*Location says it is in the Museum, cannot find location in museum or images associated with the sample. Magnetite (Fe3O4) is an iron-black mineral with a metallic lustre. Streak is black and hardness is 5 1/2 to 6 1/2. There is no cleavage but may have octahedral parting in four directions. Magnetite usually occurs as octahedrons, dodecahedrons with striations, massive, coarse or fine granular or lamellar.
