Description
Large white lath-like sample with vitreous lustre.
Spodumene (LiAlSi2O6) can be white, grey, yellowish, emerald-green (Hiddenite) or pink to purple (Kunzite). Lustre is vitreous or pearly and streak is white. Hardness is 6 1/2 to 7. Cleavage is good in two directions at nearly right angles. Spodumene usually occurs as lath-like flattened crystals that have deep grooves that are parallel to the elongation. Spodumene can also occur as cleavage masses or columnar crystals.
