Description
Large, broad Amethyst crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons with a greasy lustre. Granitoid host rock.
Quartz (SiO2) can come in a variety different colours and when it is purple it is known as Amethyst. Lustre can be vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7 and crystals can be long or short prismatic crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons. Can also be granular, massive or disseminated.
