Description

Vein of short, prismatic Amethyst crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons. Lustre is vitreous. Granitic host rock. Quartz (SiO2) can come in a variety of different colours and when it is purple it is known as Amethyst. Lustre can be vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7 and crystals are usually found as long or short prismatic crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons. Can also be granular, massive or disseminated.
