Description

White, greasy lustre compact Quartz with small grains of Gold. Quartz (SiO2) can come in a variety of colours from white to purple. Lustre can be vitreous or greasy and streak is white. Hardness is 7. Quartz usually occurs as short or long prismatic crystals that are terminated by double rhombohedrons. Can also occur as granular, disseminated or massive. Gold (Au) is usually gold-yellow, brass-yellow or pale yellow and does not tarnish. Lustre is metallic and streak is gold-yellow and shiny. Hardness is 2 1/2 to 3. Gold usually occurs as octahedral, dodecahedral or cubic and is often distorted. Can also occur as grains, scales, lumps, plates, leaves or wires.
